Karl Heinbockel’s Bio

Karl first joined the Little Rock Urban Farming team from 2012 to 2013 as an apprentice after graduating from Hendrix College. He went on to start his own backyard mini-farm, manage a community garden, go through Master Gardener training and work on the Governor’s Mansion Vegetable Garden project. In 2016, Karl returned to LRUF as Farm Manager and Chief Mischief-Maker. Additionally, he is the Program Manager for the Southern Center for Agroecology, a non-profit organization focused on strengthening our local food system through education and applied research. Special topics of interest for Karl: soil remineralization, post-harvest nutrient loss, maintaining earthworm-friendly garden beds, farm profitability, and fermentation.
